All that happens "to"/"unto" me happens for the development of my faith and spirituality, for the articulation of my beliefs and for my authentic spiritual truth to reveal itself to me. for me, all experiences, all reactions, all occurrences must lead to loving compassion, even for those who cast hate and malice. those who act with hate, malice, envy, greed are acting in the unproductive and unhealthy channeling of fear and troubled emotional states. life's about the way we choose to use fear; fear that can be so dark and that can take such rotten root in human hearts; life's about how humans harness that fear and act upon it in ways that go towards the light, ALWAYS. it's not easy. it's not. but we wouldn't be here on earth if each of us couldn't do that. we are here on earth because we can do that. it's just very hard and it takes daily practice and self-reckoning. daily.
underneath fear, anger, darkness -- at least for me -- there is often sadness, grief, un-mourned loss, disappointment, disillusionment, and distrust. often born of loneliness and fatigue as Max Ehrmann wrote in his 1927 poem Desiderata (https://www.desiderata.com/desiderata.html) ("Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness."). this anger and sadness, these emotions, underneath fear and inner darkness, are lodged like crude oil, under miles of ice or earth. sadness and/or anger at life, at god, at fate, at the lives we thought we were owed and thought we'd have but don't. this unexpressed grief and pain is one many people only know to express in harmful ways. they take it out on individuals who they believe to be the cause, when really, the causes are much bigger, and beyond any everyday individual's perceived contribution. and those who take out their anger/grief on innocent individuals act in the misguided and misunderstood channeling of revenge and retribution. they do not understand. they may think, "this is what they get/deserve," "this will show them," "this will get them" etc. they think they are the ones to deliver "karma" or to make others pay the price. they are bullies for whom knocking others down is the only thing that gives them any feeling of power in a life where they otherwise feel deeply powerless. there is a failure to see that the ACTIONS they THEY TOOK in malice (due to anger, sadness, envy, desire for revenge or to stoke fear) are the things that are making karmic imprints upon themselves. no individual is the bringer or the delivery-person of another person's karma, especially if they act consciously and with mal intent. it is a misreading of the concept of "karma" to believe you, as an individual, must act with intent to harm and terrorize, because you believe the other person/party "deserves" it or that you "deserve to" act in that way towards them. that is not karma.
the person that takes that kind of action -- it is a display of their inability to see another way, to channel their life force energy into something else that could improve their and others' lives, their inability to use their time in service of something greater, their inability to imagine anything else, their inability to free themselves from unbridled and unhealthy ego needs. but we're on earth after all. it's hard to release attachment to earthly things like ego drives and things like over-obsession and over-attachment to material reality and material desires.
do something else with your time. face your emotions. find other activities that enrich yours and others' lives, realities, and spiritual experience.
affirmations --
I practice detachment from fear that seeks to debilitate. I practice detachment from fear every day.
I practice detachment from uncontrolled reactions to fear on a daily basis.
I harness the power of my human mind and the courage of my human heart to transform fear and anger into love and compassion.
I have and extend empathy, compassion and understanding, especially towards those who don't have or extend those things towards me.
I am in control of the way I express my empathy, compassion, and understanding. I have the necessary boundaries and protections in place, and know intuitively how to express these things, in both seen and unseen ways.
These are my daily practices.
My greatest spiritual lessons, truths, and tools are revealed through hardships and misfortunes that befall me.
I transform the fear others wish to stoke/provoke in me into ever-steadier and ever-eternal faith, strength, fortitude, compassion, and intellectual reasoning.
No more "what-if" -- faith is that which says "even if"
I transform my emotions in to intellectual spiritual thoughts and channel them into personal development
I seek the spiritual, learning, and personal growth opportunities hidden in all things/people/experiences that challenge and threaten me
Those who do unto me in the spirit of harm and malice have shown themselves to god and to the truest authority of karma by way of their actions and deeds
I do unto others as I would have them do unto me // the golden rule -- I treat others the way I want to be treated
I take actions aligned with spiritual conscience, disciplined conscience, moral conscience
Take conscience-aligned actions to bring about your own good and bountiful spiritual returns on investment
